Volunteer: One-to-One Tutor

We are in need of tutors!

Work directly with Adult Basic Education (ABE), English Language Learning (ELL), and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners!

We are learner-centered and learner-directed. Our learners identify their own goals, choose their path to meeting those goals, and participate fully in planning and assessing their progress. Supporting our tutors is a top priority. There is no prescribed recipe for tutoring with us. That is intentional and by design. We offer individualized tutor training, immediate support when requested, and tutor workshops.

We are looking for at least an hour a week of tutoring. Day, time, and location are organized between tutor and learner. Our office, along with our old library location on the third floor, provides multiple tutor rooms with materials to help.

Tutors will:

Attend a tutor training.Be matched with a learner based on learner goals & availability. Will meet weekly at a mutually convenient time.Focus sessions on learner goals.Submit a digital tutor log after each tutor session.

You Make the Difference.
