Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services Inc is a non-profit agency that provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, 24-hour crisis support, empowerment services, legal advocacy, support groups, and youth services to survivors experiencing domestic abuse. 

We believe that volunteers are vital partners in fulfilling our mission and strengthening our organization. Volunteers provide us with their unique talents, skills, and time, that in turn plays a crucial role in serving our clients. We are committed to the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers to help us reach our goal of ending the cycle of domestic violence.  

Our facility provides emergency shelter to clients with an immediate safety concern. In 2025, we provided a safe and secure environment for over 175 adults and children. Our shelter consists of 11 apartment style shelter rooms where families and individuals have their own living space, including private kitchens and bathrooms. When we have an individual or family leave shelter, it is imperative that we get the room cleaned and flipped in a timely manner.  Due to our staff's time commitment to provide support services to our clients, we need assistance from volunteers to make sure this happens. We are looking for volunteers who would be able to come in on short notice to assist us in flipping rooms as they become vacant. *Note: Short notice could mean anytime within 1-2 days from time of contact, you are not expected to come in immediately when staff contacts you. Duties may include things such as: 

Sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors 

Dusting 

Wiping down/sanitizing surfaces 

Cleaning windows 

Cleaning bathrooms 

Cleaning refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave 

Cleaning dishes 

Washing bedding 

Making beds 

Wiping down furniture 

Requirements: 

Must be able to lift 25 lbs. 

Must be able to use the stairs 

Must have cleaning knowledge 

Must be able to be on feet for an extended period of time 

Must be able to move independently

Our facility in which we provide services to clients plays an important role in the support we are able to offer them. Maintaining a clean, well-organized space provides a welcoming and comforting environment for them when they may need it most. Due to our staff's time commitment to provide support services to our clients, we need assistance from volunteers to keep our facility clean and well organized. Duties may include things such as: 

Sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors 

Dusting 

Wiping down/sanitizing surfaces

Sorting and putting away donations 

Organizing and stocking shelter “grab and go” areas 

Picking up/cleaning play areas 

Cleaning vacant shelter rooms 

Assisting moving furniture items 

Other unique needs that may arise

Here at Christine Ann, we prioritize our client's dignity by providing all the essentials in a “grab and go” manner, so that they do not need to come to ask for their necessities. This includes food, as well as hygiene products. Every Tuesday morning, we receive a food donation from a local pantry. We are looking for a volunteer who can come around 10:30 am on Tuesdays to assist us in putting the groceries away, as well as stock the pantry shelves.  

Requirements:

Must be able to be on feet for an extended period of time 

Must be able to move independently

Due to the time commitments our staff provides to our clients, we are looking for volunteers who would be able to assist us in outdoor upkeeping. This would include things such as: 

Mowing 

Raking 

Weeding 

Gardening 

Requirements 

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds 

Must be able to kneel/squat for extended periods of time 

Must be able to work with hands 

Must be able to work in the sun for extended periods of time 

Christine Ann is dedicated to keeping a welcoming, clean, and supportive environment for our survivors. We would not be able to upkeep our space and provide this for them without the help from our volunteers.

At Christine Ann, we strive to protect clients' dignity by providing all the necessities they need, such as hygiene products and cleaning products, as well as maintaining a clean, organized environment for them. Once a month, we check all inventory to gauge what items we are most in need of to ensure that we can obtain and provide them. We are looking for a volunteer who could come in the end of each month to complete the inventory check. This could include: 

Shuffling items from the storage closet to all grab and go areas of the shelter 

Stocking other facility areas (such as bathrooms and break rooms) 

Using checklist to check inventory left in storage closet after stocking is complete 

Requirements:

With the amount of time and hard work that goes into planning and hosting big events, they would not be successful without the help of our volunteers. Volunteer roles will differ depending on the event, but volunteers are needed for tasks to plan/prep for events, set up events, various roles during events, and clean up.

At Christine Ann we strive to protect our client's dignity by providing them with necessities such as food, hygiene items, and clothing, as well as providing them with a clean and organized space. As a non-profit, a large amount of these items come through donations. With the time commitments our staff provides for our clients, we do not always have time to sort/put away these donations, and they begin to pile up in our common area.  We are looking for a volunteer who could come in weekly to assist with sorting donations and putting them away.

Hope Garden Project

We believe that volunteers are vital partners in fulfilling our mission and strengthening our organization. Volunteers provide us with their unique talents, skills, and time, that in turn plays a crucial role in serving our clients. We are committed to the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers to help us reach our goal in ending the cycle of domestic violence.  

Christine Ann would like to redesign the garden on the front lawn of the building into our Hope Garden. This garden will be planted in memory of those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, and to “plant the seeds” of hope to those affected by domestic violence. This spring, we will begin to plant the garden. We will plant throughout the year, depending on when the different plants will thrive best to be planted. We will then need volunteers to come in routinely to maintain the garden. 

Requirements: 

Must be able to kneel/squat for extended periods of time 

Must be able to work with hands 

Must be able to work in the sun for extended periods of time 

Have basic knowledge of how to care for plants successfully 

We are very passionate about this garden not only to honor the lives lost to DV, but also to honor and foster hope for survivors of DV. This project would not be able to come to fruition without the time, hard work, and support of our volunteers.
