Volunteer: Hope Garden Project

Hope Garden Project

Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services Inc is a non-profit agency that provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, 24-hour crisis support, empowerment services, legal advocacy, support groups, and youth services to survivors experiencing domestic abuse.

We believe that volunteers are vital partners in fulfilling our mission and strengthening our organization. Volunteers provide us with their unique talents, skills, and time, that in turn plays a crucial role in serving our clients. We are committed to the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers to help us reach our goal in ending the cycle of domestic violence.

Christine Ann would like to redesign the garden on the front lawn of the building into our Hope Garden. This garden will be planted in memory of those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, and to “plant the seeds” of hope to those affected by domestic violence. We would like to begin planting within the next month, and will continue to plant throughout the year, depending on when the different plants will thrive best to be planted. We will then need volunteers to come in routinely to maintain the garden.

Requirements:

Must be able to kneel/squat for extended periods of time

Must be able to work with hands

Must be able to work in the sun for extended periods of time

Have basic knowledge of how to care for plants successfully

We are very passionate about this garden not only to honor the lives lost to DV, but also to honor and foster hope for survivors of DV. This project would not be able to come to fruition without the time, hard work, and support of our volunteers.

If you are interested, please reach out to Rachel, our Volunteer Coordinator at:
