Volunteer: Join Our Battle of the Big Bands Planning Team

Enjoy being part of a team? Have a creative side? Looking for a way to make an impact for individuals and families in our community?

We’re planning our 3rd Annual Battle of the Big Bands at Becket’s September 25th and are looking for volunteers to join our planning committee. Funds raised through this event support programs focused on basic needs, community gardening, and non-violence initiatives in our area.

Volunteers can help with sponsorship outreach, organize our silent auction, and support event planning details. Most meetings are held via Zoom, and time commitments are flexible. Planning will take place leading up to the fall event, with virtual meetings and optional tasks between meetings.

No prior event planning experience is needed—just a willingness to help.

Volunteer: Critical Blood Shortage - Volunteer to Save Lives - Donate Blood

The American Red Cross is facing a critical blood shortage. Blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, leading to only the second national blood crisis declaration in Red Cross history. Most concerning, there is now less than a one-day national supply of Type O positive blood available, a blood type used in many emergency situations and compatible with over 80% of the population.

Blood donations are needed every day to support patients recovering from traumatic injuries, undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatment, and facing other serious medical conditions.

There are two simple ways you can help:

Donate Blood or Platelets

If you're feeling healthy and meet eligibility requirements, please consider making an appointment to donate blood or platelets. Every donation can make a lifesaving difference for patients in need.

To schedule an appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

If appointments aren't immediately available in your area, please consider booking one in the coming days or weeks. Future appointments are just as important in helping rebuild and maintain a stable blood supply.

Help Spread the Word

If you're unable to donate, you can still have a significant impact by encouraging others to give. Sharing information with friends, family, coworkers, and your social networks can help connect more donors with this urgent need.
