Volunteer: Socializing Service Dogs in TrainingJourney Together Service Dog is seeking volunteers to help provide public access experiences for our puppies. Since our dogs receive the majority of training at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution, there are a number of experiences they can not receive in a prison setting. Our community volunteers take dogs on outings to help the dog gain the life experiences that are essential for a highly trained service dog. As a volunteer for the program, you contact us when you are available to work with a dog. Some volunteers only take a dog on an outing for a couple of hours, some do a full day and some take a dog for multiple days. Some of our volunteers work with a dog every week, some do it a couple times a month. Volunteers have the option of going on group outings or taking a dog by themselves. Volunteers go through orientation and then go on outings with our trainers who will help you learn how to handle the dogs and proper etiquette for taking dogs to stores, restaurants or other public locations. We have many families who volunteer together. This allows the children to work with the dog while an adult is present. Volunteer: On-Call Volunteer Advocate*NOTE* due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Reach's Advocates are currently responding to initial calls for Advocacy support via telephone. After the initial telephone call, in-person hospital responses may be required. Reach Counseling provides crisis intervention and emotional support 24/7 to survivors of sexual assault and their friends/family with the help of Volunteer Victim Advocates. Volunteer Advocates are on call nights, weekends, and holidays when the Reach office is closed. Volunteer Advocates are trained to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, information and resources to survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Winnebago County. Advocates provide these services over the phone or in person at a local hospital. Advocates work alongside medical and legal professionals to ensure survivors are supported while navigating these processes, reducing further trauma and re-victimization while tending to a survivor’s emotional needs. Advocates will work with nurses and law enforcement to provide wrap-around, compassionate care while a survivor receives a forensic exam and/or gives a statement to the police. Advocates respond to Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh and occasionally ThedaCare in Appleton when the survivor is from Winnebago County. Advocates must have a driver's license, car insurance and vehicle while on call. Advocates take calls through their own phones and never have to be at the Reach office while on call. Advocates must be aware they will hear details of sexual abuse and assault and should know how hearing these stories will impact them. Advocates are in charge of how many and which shifts they take and the schedule is very flexible.

Volunteer: Blood Donors Needed!Blood Donation
Donate Today, You'll Save Lives Tomorrow About one hour is all it takes to provide the lifesaving gift of blood to patients in our local hospitals. Right here in our community, volunteer blood donors are connecting lives and sharing life through blood donation. Blood donation couldn’t be more important. There is no substitute for blood, so when a local patient is facing cancer treatment, surgical procedures or the uncertainty of a traumatic injury, it’s volunteer donors who help ensure that the blood needed is on hand. And the need is great. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood – that’s 35,000 blood donations needed every single day! Volunteer blood donors respond to this need, and for that, we are extremely grateful. To that end, we do all that we can to ensure the best possible experience for our donors. The moment you visit one of our donor centers or blood drives, our courteous, professional staff will work to make your visit brief, comfortable and something you’ll look forward to doing again (in eight weeks, we might add). With your whole blood or platelet donation, your generous gesture could make all the difference for a local patient in need. Schedule your donation today and be a part of someone’s story. Donate today; you’ll save lives tomorrow. Why Donate BloodThe Community Blood Center sees more than 1,200 volunteer blood donors every week. Many donate to help their community. Others donate blood in honor of a friend or family member who has required a blood transfusion. What makes volunteer blood donors so special? Blood cannot be made or manufactured. It’s a gift that can only be given from a volunteer donor. DONATE NOW Organization: The Community Blood Center Blood Donation

Volunteer: On-Call Latinx Volunteer AdvocateReach Counseling provides crisis intervention and emotional support 24/7 to survivors of sexual assault and their friends/family with the help of Volunteer Victim Advocates. Our Latinx Advocates offer advocacy services to Spanish-speaking clients. Virtual Advocacy available.
