The role of the Disaster Mental Health Service Associate (SA) or Worker is to serve as a member of a temporary work unit on a disaster relief operation to provide disaster mental health support to individuals and families who have been impacted by a disaster.

The Sheltering (SH) Service Associate (SA) is a position assigned to work in person in a Red Cross shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event. Sheltering Service Associates complete tasks necessary for shelter operations and interacts with clients to ensure their needs are met. Sheltering Service Associates support the day-to-day activities within a shelter, which can include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information or other areas within a shelter.

Responsibilities vary depending on assignment.

Local/Regional: Shift work determined by the scale of the relief operation; a minimum requirement of 8-12 hours per day during the disaster relief operation for multiple, consecutive days.

Every Tuesday afternoon during the growing season, we escort residents to the Master Gardens on our property in order to meet with the Master Gardeners to visit and enjoy the beautiful gardens.  Once flowers are in bloom, Master Gardeners cut flowers, place in vases and send back with the residents to their rooms to enjoy.  

We could use the help of volunteers to escort our residents in wheelchairs out to the gardens on any given Tuesday afternoon from mid-June through the end of October, weather permitting.

The Mercy Hospital Gift shop is a cheery place to spend time as a volunteer and a great place to shop.  You will operate the cash register, credit card machine and assist customers with shopping for baby items, jewelry and accessories, candy and many other unique items.  Evening, weekend and daytime shifts are available.

Emergency Room- Volunteers assist Emergency department staff, patients and visitors with a variety of duties to enhance the customer service in Emergency Services.

Patient Care Unit 2- Volunteers provide light clerical duties, department specific tasks, and provide general assistance to department staff, visitors, and patients with non-medical aspects of care. Volunteers do not perform patient care tasks that require the training or education of a Certified Nursing Assistant or licensed health care employee.  Volunteer duties include set-up of surgical rooms for patients arriving the next morning and assist nursing staff with non-medical aspects of patient care.  

Rehab Unit - Socialize, read to patients or other individual activities as directed.

We are currently looking for a Dentist to volunteer your time to help the less fortunate with any emergency/pain management issues.  We will work around your schedule and will try to accommodate you with as much as you may possibly need.

Reach Counseling provides crisis intervention and emotional support 24/7 to survivors of sexual assault and their friends/family with the help of Volunteer Victim Advocates. Volunteer Advocates are on call nights, weekends, and holidays when the Reach office is closed.

Volunteer Advocates are trained to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, information and resources to survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Winnebago County. Advocates provide these services over the phone or in person at a local hospital. Advocates work alongside medical and legal professionals to ensure survivors are supported while navigating these processes, reducing further trauma and re-victimization while tending to a survivor’s emotional needs. 

Advocates will work with nurses and law enforcement to provide wrap-around, compassionate care while a survivor receives a forensic exam and/or gives a statement to the police. Advocates respond to Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh and occasionally ThedaCare in Appleton when the survivor is from Winnebago County. 

Advocates must have a driver's license, car insurance and vehicle while on call. Advocates take calls through their own phones and never have to be at the Reach office while on call. Advocates must be aware they will hear details of sexual abuse and assault and should know how hearing these stories will impact them. Advocates are in charge of how many and which shifts they take and the schedule is very flexible.

Coffee counter volunteers are the face of Solutions' Recovery Club and Welcome Center. The coffee counter volunteers welcome patrons, serve snacks, coffee, and other beverages in a recovery friendly atmosphere. 

Volunteers will be handling guest transactions, service with a smile : ) and additional welcome center upkeep : cleaning and restocking products.

Reach Counseling is Winnebago County's Sexual Assault Service Provider. Our volunteer office assistants help with coverage of the front desk, filing paperwork, office organization, and other tasks to help our staff move smoothly through our workdays.

Reach Counseling is Winnebago County's Sexual Assault Service Provider. Our Prevention Education program is active in 71 schools in Winnebago County. We have a K-12 curriculum for sexual violence to educate about and prevent child abuse in our community. Volunteer Presenters will be trained in each grade level and will present within the schools (in-person or virtually). Additional training will be provided to answer questions from the students and respond if they disclose sexual abuse.

Volunteers place calls to patient’s home approx. 6 months after their loss.  The volunteer call to the bereaved is to offer a listening ear, validate feelings and offer our bereavement resources: mailings, groups, one-on-one grief support, and future phone calls. 

Aurora Health at Home Hospice is a not-for-profit organization designed to provide services for terminally ill patients and their families. We will accommodate your schedule and provide flexible hours. Aurora Health at Home Hospice provides hands-on training.

Traditionally, Meal Teams have prepared a meal at home, and brought it to the shelter, warm, to serve. At this time, Day by Day is looking for volunteers who are interested in forming a team to prepare meals for 55. 

We have a warming kitchen with an oven, warming rack, and steam table for serving here at the shelter. We do have an industrial dishwasher and reusable trays, cups, mugs, silverware, etc. Some teams prefer to bring in disposable items to save time and skip the dishes.

*Volunteers under 18 may assist with meal but must be with and near a guardian at all times.*

Assist program participants with maintaining balance and control and interpreting directions given by the Riding Instructor during lessons.

When Day by Day does not have a meal team, meal is provided by the Shelter. Our guests favorite Shelter provided meal is Casserole Smorgasbord. If you make a casserole for your family, consider making a second and dropping off at Day by Day. We will happily freeze to use for a future meal. 

Day by Day also serves snack and a continental breakfast, and baked goods and leftovers dropped off from large gatherings are always a fun surprise and a generous treat. 

We are looking for a volunteer shopper, someone who will shop in the community for a resident or meet a resident and assist at the store.

This volunteer will work closely with the Kitchen Coordinator to assist in the preparation, serving, and clean-up. Volunteer hours are between 9am-1pm Monday-Friday.

Laundry Duties: Wash and dry towels used, to ensure fresh and comfortable towels are available.

Special events need greeters and servers who enjoy meeting with people, as well as people to haul, set up, and clean up. Bakers can also contribute snacks and treats to our events. High school aged students are welcome to help.

Whether you're planning a badge day, recruitment event or just a fun activity for girls to do, we would love your skills and help planning! Our service unit is an active unit and love to host events for the girls and their troops.

Matches get together 2-4 times a month. A Big (mentor) is matched with a Little (the child) so that they can enjoy their hobbies and interests together along with exploring new things. Wave Robotics is an after school STEAM program where students design, build, and code a robot. We are looking for mentors to help guide students during their educational journey. We seek to grow and foster both technical skills and administrative skills. Opportunities vary from supervising the metal shop, to coding with students, to proof reading their budget requests.

The purpose of the Blood Donor Ambassador is to provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience. Engage with blood donors to promote blood donation and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations. Assist donors with re-hydrating after donation and observe for post-donation reactions. Express gratitude and ensure each blood donor is sincerely thanked for their donation.

Qualifications: 

1+ shift(s) every three months dependent on geographic location.

Average shift is 5-6 hours.

The Oshkosh Parks department manages and maintains several acres of parks, shoreline and trails. Volunteers are needed to assist with various landscaping tasks such as invasive species control, mulching and weeding of flowers beds, cleaning of boat docks, and more!

Volunteers will be provided with appropriate tools but may need to supply their own work/gardening gloves. Landscaping projects may require a stricter schedule, however, volunteers signing up for weekly/biweekly projects may have a more flexible schedule.

Volunteers shall be 18 or older unless under supervision of an adult approved by the Oshkosh Parks staff.

AM Hospitality volunteers assist with setting up, refilling, and cleaning up our continental breakfast from 6am-8am. At Day by Day, our PM Hospitality Volunteers make a difference from 5:30-8:30pm by assisting with helping guests pick a shower time upon arrival. They also assist with laundry, unlocking shower doors for guests, and ensuring that guest needs are met. This position is available 7 days a week. 

The Guest Registration Volunteer plays a crucial role in welcoming and assisting guests at our food pantry. This position involves greeting guests, checking in existing guests, and interviewing new guests using our database. Day by Day has openings for Front Desk assistance. Shifts are available from 9a-11a, 11a-1p, and 1p-3p Monday - Thursday each week. This position is great for someone taking classes, as the main responsibility is listening for and answering the door. Additional tasks available by request, but we won't tell if you're really here to watch Netflix and avoid your kids for a few hours in between the doorbell. 

We put on three holiday meals a year and host an annual Bridgewalk fundraiser in June.

Our three holiday meals are on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. 

Needs include: setting up before or cleaning up after the events, food preparation, serving meals on the actual holidays, other various tasks such as helping with registration and the raffle during the Bridgewalk. 

Be the troop leader that supports her every week—the one that watches her smile get bigger as she grows more confident. Mentor a Girl Scout Cookie Professional during cookie season so she can earn enough to reach the goals she and her troop set. Or work with other adults to provide the kind of behind-the-scenes support that makes it possible for her to make amazing new memories at Girl Scouts.  Register as a Troop Leader, Assistant Troop Leader, Troop Cookie Manager, Fall Product Manager, or Troop Helper.  

The Service Area of Oshkosh is an active group of volunteers and Girl Scouts.  Our team of Service Area volunteers coordinates events for girls throughout Oshkosh such as Lock Ins, cookie rally's, badge workshops, and community park cleanups.  If you aren't a parent, were perhaps a former Girl Scout, or just want to give back to girls in your community without a commitment to being a troop leader, we are always looking for volunteers to serve as Treasurer, Cookie or Fall Product Managers, Delegates to our Board, or if you have great outdoor skills you could become a trainer or Outdoor Champion.

Create a positive and improved quality of life for our seniors through taking them on a Trishaw ride to feel the wind in their hair, enjoy the outdoors and meet people along the way. After required training, volunteer will serve as a pilot and companion to the rider. Volunteers may also sign up to ride along with the resident as a companion.

Volunteer to assist a client in learning to ride public transit bus.

We have ongoing volunteer projects all year long.  Stuffing envelopes, folding, various handwork, sorting, etc.  Both sitting and standing jobs. 

Typically done between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday-Friday.  Very flexible scheduling, you can volunteer all day or just for a couple hours.

If you would be interested in learning the basics of how a TV show is put together, this volunteer opportunity is for you!!

Volunteers do not need to have any experience. We will provide all training. Crewmembers will work in rotating positions, as they become trained and are comfortable, in a variety of areas on the production of a cable access TV show, also shown on YouTube, and other social media sites. Positions will include camera person, floor director, audio, graphics, and eventually, director. 

We tape a new show twice monthly (the first and third Thursdays of each month). This may vary periodically, but not very often. Crewmembers arrive at the studio (located in the Oshkosh City Hall building) at 5:30pm and we usually wrap up about 7:30pm. 

If we have a large enough number of volunteers, crewmembers would not necessarily need to "work" both Thursdays in a month. But our crew currently works both Thursdays each month. 

Each week's show covers a different topic. We cover anything and everything that affects or would be of interest to people in the Oshkosh area. This includes: local politics and government; pet therapy and support dogs; local animal shelter happenings; fire safety and prevention; police department issues; poverty; affordable housing; United Way; the Oshkosh Public Library and Oshkosh Public Museum; veterans issues; dementia; breast cancer awareness; the local Farmers Market; food co-op store; etc.

This show has been on-the-air since 2002 and for a complete list of the various topics we've covered and to watch any of our past shows, we would encourage you to search for Eye on Oshkosh on YouTube.com. We have our own YouTube channel and it houses all the shows we've done over the years. 

As a crewmember, you will not only get to learn basics of TV production and have your name on the credits at the end of the show, but you will get to learn a lot of new things that our guests talk about, and meet a lot of new people, many of whom are great connections to have.

We are currently seeking assistance in the craft section at our store. The duties would be sorting, cleaning, pricing, and stocking crafting and sewing items. The hours are flexible and are typically, but not limited to, four hour shifts. Wednesdays are preferred. You are not required to wear a mask if vaccinated.
