Who We Are
The State of WI Board on Aging and Long Term Care is an advocacy agency focused on improving the quality of life for the elderly living in WI! We advocate for the interests of WI's long term care consumers, inform those consumers of their rights, and educate the public about health care systems and long term care. Our values encompass: respect and dignity for the individual; protection of their rights to be free from threats to health, safety, and quality of life; fairness and transparency; and open, clear, and consistent communication. Our Volunteer Ombudsman Program serves individuals ages 60 or over who are residents of nursing homes in Wisconsin.
What We Do
If you enjoy visiting with older adults, this opportunity could be perfect for YOU! We are looking for volunteer advocates (known as Volunteer Ombudsmen) to improve the lives of residents living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities all over NE WI - specifically in Winnebago and surrounding counties! These advocates make weekly visits to a designated nursing home, visit with residents to find out how they are doing, and encourage and empower residents to resolve concerns they may have about the cares and services they receive. Training is provided, and ongoing support is always available. This opportunity is flexible - visits are 1-3 hours in duration, and can be made any day of the week between 8am-8pm. Completion of a background check required. Please consider becoming a Volunteer Ombudsman in your community!
