Achieve between 4,500-7,000 steps in a 4 hour shift volunteering at Ascension Mercy Hospital in our Transport area. This assignment provides patient wheelchair escort at discharge, delivers supplies and equipment to and from nursing units and ancillary departments and assists with special projects. If you are caring, energetic, and able to push patients in wheelchairs this is the area for you. Friendly volunteers are needed during the weekdays 8:00 a.m.-noon, noon - 4:00 p.m.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide wheelchair transport to patients at discharge to car at hospital entrance
- Escort or provide wheelchair transport to patients and visitors within the hospital as requested.
- Pick up and deliver food trays from the Serving Kitchen to patient care units.
- Deliver supplies and equipment to and from patient care units, ancillary departments, and support service and deliver specimens to the lab.
- Pick-up and deliver other items from various departments as requested.
- Transfer patient clothing/items from the outpatient procedures area to designated patient care unit as requested.
- Collate paperwork and provide other short term projects as requested.
- Record volunteer activity into daily transport log.
**Volunteers are needed for approximately four hours a week in a variety of positions at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh.
