Volunteers who enjoy making craft items are wanted to assist with making paper flowers and other types of creations to be sold in the Gift Shop or given to patients. Creative volunteers are also needed to make tray favors to be given to Mercy patients. Depending on the item, volunteers can either work at the hospital or make things at home. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Projects: Participate in making crafts or sewing projects on Wednesday mornings in the Volunteer Multi-purpose room or in your own home.
- Ice Pack Covers: Use pattern to sew covers for ice packs for rehab patients.
- Happy Flowers: Participate in making tissue paper flowers for sale in the Gift Shop on most Thursday afternoons.
- Beanies/Caps: Knit beanies, according to directions provided and as able, for Birthplace patients. Make caps as able for Cancer Center patients.
- Tray Favors: Participate in making favors for patient trays to celebrate the seasons/holidays. Tray Favors volunteers meet about four (4) times per year in the Volunteer Multi-Purpose Room.
- Lap Robes: Sew, knit or crochet lap robes/quilts for patients. Should be about 45x60 inches, to fit a male or female adult, and be large enough to pull up over one’s arms.
- Layettes: Make clothing to be donated to the Birthplace Unit for newborns.
- Pretty Pockets: Sew fun, discreet drain bulb covers for surgical patients.
- Mastectomy Pillows: Use pattern to sew and stuff comfort pillows for breast surgery recovery.
**Volunteers are needed to give of their time and creative talents for approximately four hours a week in a variety of positions at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh.
