Volunteers provide support to pharmacy staff while gaining knowledge and experience in a pharmacy. Duties include receiving drug orders, identifying orders, prioritizing and relaying orders to pharmacist for processing, assisting with clerical functions, and other duties under supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive drug orders from nursing units, identify drug orders, prioritize orders, and give to Pharmacists to be processed.
- Put away items received from vendors.
- Check drug inventory for outdated items.
- Clean bins, shelves, unit dose drawers as needed.
- Deliver items to nursing units or the Cancer Center in person or via pneumatic tube or dumbwaiter.
- Clerical functions to assist the Pharmacy Manager or Inventory Technician by organizing files, arranging information in 3-ring binders, as well as various typing and relabeling duties.
- Assist the Pharmacists or Technicians with projects that require limited knowledge about medication and are easily understood by the volunteer and supervised by a Pharmacy staff member.
**Volunteers are needed to give of their time and talents for approximately four hours a week in a variety of positions at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh.
